DAUÐI ÓFELÍU
Hún hljóp sem himinfætla upp´ í hlíðar
og hló og söng og grét með ljúfum rómi.
Þá tillti´ hún bak við eyrað túnvorsblómi
sem teygði sig á kinnar niður fríðar.
Á fjórum fótum skreið í mosalyngi
var líkt og vildi fela sig í leyni
en hruflaði sig skarpt á hrjúfum steini
samt heyrðist mér þó ennþá að hún syngi.
Hún spratt á fætur, flaug sem fælin lóa,
á örskotsstund var stödd á klettastalli.
Svo hvarf hún mér. Næst sá ég hana dána.
Hún féll. Ég hljóp sem mest ég gat um móa.
Þar flaut hún burt frá fossins þunga falli
skreytt fagurlitum blómum niður ána.
